My Mother's Day Weekend

Well hello blog world.  It is the early morning hour 4:30 to be exact and could not sleep, so thought I'd get on here and share a glimpse of my mother's day weekend. It started early Saturday morning. The husband had to work so I jumped outta bed at 6:45 and started getting ready to be able to drive him into work. He works in the next town that is about 11 miles south of us. There is more shopping there which includes a Kroger and Lowe's.  First off I went to Lowe's picked up my mother a beautiful hanging basket and found a few things that were marked down for me. I had made myself wait buying because I knew we would have of some more chilly weather. My grandmother always told me it is best to wait until after Mother's day to plant.

I was pleased with what I had accomplished at Lowe's so I headed over to Sonic to get my daily dose of my Vanilla Dr. Pepper. Yep, I've tried really hard to cut down quite a bit, but the urge was to strong since I was alone and enjoying my freedom without hubs or child. wink  Plus, I had to get some energy since I had to do all that walking food shopping. right right I told my self. lol

I had about 2 hours to get the grocery shopping done which was plenty of time and Goodwill is in walking distance to Kroger so I decided to make a stop into there. Let me tell you that is always a treat to myself to find bargains. On that visit I scored a pretty little plate for the kitchen, a few kitchen gadgets, three dvd's one Wiggles and the other two were christian inspired, Old Navy Khaki pants and a nice plaid pair of Carter shorts for our son, and a few educational books for him as well. Several of the items were the 1/2 off color so I was a pleased mama. Next item of business was Kroger. My ecoupons help us there with a free box of cereal that is exactly the kind hubs eats every morning and several others that were items that I needed. I love being frugal! With all that was accomplished I arrived 10 minutes before hubs was scheduled to be off which is noon on Saturday. Although, wouldn't you know he would have a customer right at 12:00. Good for business but this mama has places to be and things to do. Well, we got back on the road and picked up our boy (he usually spends every Friday night with the grandparents) unloaded the car and I cooked us lunch. That afternoon David finished up mowing our yard since I had not be able to do early in the week because of rain. Pretty much the rest of the afternoon was spent playing in the yard with our boy and our dog, planting and cleaning off our front porch.

Sunday morning Aaron surprised me with a box of Russell Stover Nougat Chocolate's. Definitely didn't need that but I have been very good about not eating but a couple pieces so far. They are so good .....my favorite. We got ready and went to church.

After church we went over to my parents for lunch. Mama had put on one of her famous Chuck Roast with Carrots and Potatoes. Dad had offered to cook on the grill but with it being Sunday (it is busy around my parents house since dad is the pastor) she thought it would be just as easy to put a roast on and I wasn't complaining because Mom's roast is so scrumptious. I had gotten up Sunday morning and baked a Blackberry Cobbler

We cleaned off the table and went into the family room to sit down to visit. After a while we thought we'd better get going so daddy could get ready for the night service. Mama wanted me to go outside though and get a picture of her clematis that is in full bloom before we left. It is gorgeous!

 We came home and I crashed. I don't know what it is but a BIG Sunday Dinner makes me sooooo sleepy.  Happy Mother's Day 2013
